Dec/18/2001 Firstly, I'd like to welcome the 17 of you to my site, most likely stumbled across as you searched Google for "unreal tournament news" or "unreal bimbos nude" or sum such. Secondly, I'd like to extend my best wishes of the season to one and all. I Hope the readers in the US get a GameCube under the Christmas tree, blah blah. Not even going to talk about the fact that Australia's not getting it until some unspecified time next year. :( Now, onto the chosen topic for today: The WHOLE Resident Evil series coming out on GameCube exclusively next year.
For Nintendo fans that just read that for the first time, I'll give you a moment to stop jumping up and down with joy. For those of you who just bought a PS2 so you could play Resident Evil 4, well, you have until I stop shaking my head in disappointment to replace the monitor you just put your fist through. This game is truly looking like the best thing since sliced bread was placed into a silver heat box and called "toast." For those of you that haven't caught on yet, I'm a big Resident Evil fan, as can be evidenced by the RE content on this site, located here, here, and here, and I've got another RE story in the pipeline as well as an RE2 review.
How I became obsessed with a survival horror game series with B movie storylines and bad voice acting after only playing RE2 is beyond me, but became obsessed I did. "Resident Evil 0", announced for the N64 (later moved to GameCube) was met with rapture by many, including myself. Although, I must say I have reservations about it being set on a train. I mean, come on, even with all the backtracking that the RE series is infamous for, there could only ever be forward or backwards to choose from: "Hmmm, the symbol on this plush Garfield toy that I just found here in the front of this train exactly matches the symbol on the wall in the cabin I started in, at the back of this train.." And any diversion from this path, one could only assume, would result in: "Hmmm, I'll think I'll open this side door here.." But before we worry about traversing a train back and forth and falling out of it, we've got the Resident Evil 1 remake to anticipate. Anyone that's seen this game in motion will know it's one of the games to keep an eye on in 2002. And once you've kept an eye on it, buy it straight away once it comes out. I'd like to remain impartial and say "Hmm, if it gets good reviews I may purchase it.." but I'm long passed that stage. I have been since the first video was released. Every subsequent video has only reinforced that stance. Blowing a zombie's head or leg off has never been so realistic, or so much fun!
While there are still questions to be answered about this remake (such as "how friggan scary will the bosses be?" and "what's a piecost?"), I can tell now that it's gonna sell like hot cakes with a free Tyrant finger puppet included. Well, that's all the ranting for today. Once again, Christmas tidings to all, and to all a good night.   | |||||
